Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer – Stockport, Manchester

A fantastic new job has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer, based in Stockport, Manchester to join an expanding global client in the field of design and manufacture of devices for the medical and scientific industries.

Primary Responsibilities
• Assisting the Product Engineering Manager with support of the technical issues on the manufacturing line – ability to develop a deep understanding of the laser technology to contribute to the smooth running of the Ultrafast manufacturing lines.
• Assisting the Product Engineering Manager with activities such as Test Plan investigations providing essential data to maintain and support our Ultrafast product families.
• Facilitating in-warranty service assessments of returning products, alongside the Product Engineering Manager, Service Manager and Ultrafast Service Team. Ensuring Root Cause is the primary focus of each assessment and providing accurate findings and instructions to Service and Production teams with good data entry via the Sharepoint Service Assessment database.
• Assisting the Ultrafast team with field installations and service visits to customer sites around the world.
• Assisting in the VAVE process and facilitating the implementation of VAVE initiatives aiming to reduce costs, complexity, and lead times
• Maintenance and updating of customer product line work instructions and Keystone documents.
• Supporting the commercial team for specific customer requests, facilitating the collection of non-standard data and technical input for discussions with customers (alongside the Product Engineering Manager).
• Key decision maker in Soak Test Analysis (STA) of customer product lines.
• Facilitating laser remote connections of fully fledged products to maintain correct operation in the field, in conjunction with the Product Engineering Manager and Service Manager.

General Tasks
• Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety, and environmental regulations.
• Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
• Relevant university degree in Engineering / Physics / Mathematics.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with the use of ultrafast laser systems – manufacturing or usage.
• Ability to interpret data and communicate findings to a wider internal audience or external customer.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn something new to complete a customer request/test plan.
• Excellent judgement skills to protect customer/product from detrimental changes that may be put forward.
• Knowledge of laser technology or statistical analysis desired.
• MS Office suite.

Travel Requirements
• Potential travel across the world as required.
